There is no way to ignore the significant harm JKR has done and continues to do to the trans community, especially in recent months. We thought it was important that as the team behind Dramione Month, we make clear our condemnation of JKR and reaffirm our continuous support of the trans community.
Due to escalating attacks on the transgender community, the Dramione Month Mods would like to affirm our strong stance as anti-JKR, anti-TERFs, and anti-transphobes. We stand in solidarity with the transgender community and vehemently oppose any efforts to strip our trans friends and community members of their rights and ability to exist peacefully.
We do not endorse or condone the purchase or consumption of any HP merchandise that provides money to JKR to fund her hateful agenda. This includes but is not limited to: the Harry Potter books, merch, games, theme parks, studio tours, food, the CC stage play, the upcoming HBO show, etc.
Participation in fandom spaces is inherently free and we will continue to put in the work to keep this fandom event inclusive and free for all to participate in and enjoy. This means this space is not open to those who materially fund or actively support creating a world where our trans friends cannot exist peacefully.
For this Pride Month, we have donated $100 to Mermaids UK. Additionally, as members of the dramione and queer communities, and on account of our deep love of both, we will be making a donation to Mermaids UK after Dramione Month finishes, donating a dollar for every 10 works created up to 3000 works. We encourage you to join us in contributing to this amazing charity! We will be running a fundraiser linked on our Instagram from now through the end of October.
